This is one of those sandwiches that I’m sure was brought to the United States by immigrants, most likely from Portugal. It’s a pork sandwich with thick, juicy bacon, thick chunks of onion, and a juicy slice of provolone cheese. It’s one of those sandwiches to always order at lunchtime, while it’s still warm, to have on a lazy Sunday in the summer.
The sandwich itself is tasty, but the way that the ingredients merge together is what makes it so appealing. The pork, onion, and provolone complement each other so well that the sandwich is really rather decadent.
This type of sandwich is usually eaten during the summer months, when you can find it in a variety of ethnic markets. But for this reason I’ll probably be eating it at my local pub on the weekend.

The Portuguese Pork sandwich seems to be a great way to eat, as well as a fun way to make a new friend. As far as I can tell, you get two slices of pork with a bit of red sauce on each, and a fried egg on top. I think the fried egg is part of the “decadent” part, but the bread is fried in a small pan.
It’s a simple sandwich, but it is rich in flavor and also full of protein. To me it’s like a small piece of chocolate cake.
I have to admit I had never heard of the Portuguese Pork Sandwich until reading this article. I had no idea there was a place that made it. I guess I was just lucky it wasn’t pork rinds. I guess it would taste the same anyways. But I have to admit that I am a fan of pork rinds.
